UPDATE: I've decided to take early retirement so am now sorting through over 500 thousand images. I'll display the ones that really mean something to me and the folk who commissioned me.  The selection will be displayed in the coming months 😉

Making a career in photography these days is tough. I was very fortunate to get a job when someone trusted my enthusiasm. I learnt everything 'on the job'  back in the day of Black & White negatives and prints. I cut my teeth as a Press photographer.  Today you are competing with Ai, image manipulation et 'al and need to question what is believable.

If you want a career in photography be prepared! Experiment, get creative outside the box and trust you have something to offer with genuine enthusiasm to offer something different, then build your strength with people you trust.

With experience comes wisdom. I've got more to share before I leave this mortal coil. Firstly it's not what camera you have, it's the way you use it and the person you are that enables you to illustrate the world 'you' see.

..and more personally: My wife (Kerrie) and I are enthusiastic 'garden makers'.  We've opened our garden to the public for the National Garden Scheme (NGS) charity for over 15 years, raising money for local and National Cancer Charities.  We also provide talks to gardening groups/societies in our spare time.. Very rewarding. Challenges shared, mistakes made, so much learned (-;

As a photographer, I NEVER sat outside the right house waiting for the wrong person to leave - 'paparazzi' - I prefer to wake and marvel at the positive in the world and in the garden  😁
