Making a career in photography these days is tough, I was fortunate to get a job when someone trusted my enthusiasm so learnt everything 'on the job' back in the day of Black and White negatives and Prints. I cut my teeth as a Press photographer! Today you are competing with Ai, image manipulation et 'al and need to question what is real.

If you want a career in photography now,  be prepared!  The way the world works these days can be so disconcerting - be creative and believe you have something to offer with genuine enthusiasm to offer something different. Build your strength with people you trust and think altruistically while learning.. It's not all about money!

With experience comes wisdom and I've got more to share before I leave this mortal coil. Firstly it's not what camera you have, it's the way you use it and the person you are that enables you to illustrate the world 'you' see.

..and personally: My wife (Kerrie) and I are 'enthusiastic' garden makers.  We've opened our garden to the public for the National Garden Scheme (NGS) charity for over 15 years, raising money for local and National Cancer Charities.  We also provide talks to gardening groups/societies in our spare time.. Very rewarding. Challenges shared, mistakes made, so much learned (-;

As a photographer, I NEVER sat outside the wrong house waiting for the right person to leave - 'paparazzi' - I prefer to wake and marvel at the positive in the world and in the garden  😁 Tough job @ these times.
